This is the first release in 10 years by these veteran Washington DC hardcore band that is made of two constant members, guitarist Ken Olden and vocalist Mike McTernan. When they were kids and growing up in the 80-ies they were both heavily influenced by The Cure. On their early recordings they payed tribute to The Cure by playing and recording the classic “Cold”. 25 years ago they came upon an idea to cover “Pornography”, classic The Cure album in its entirety. They worked in secret on that project for almost a quarter of a century and here it is. There are 8 songs on the album and even if you listened to the originals, you could think that these songs are bands hardcore songs and not covers. The opener “One Hundred Years” is a dark ode full of heaviness. The absolute highlight of the album for me is “Siamese Twins” with its rolling drums and melodic dark guitar theme combined with samples it is a perfect soundtrack for watching the gathering storm clouds through the window. Above mentioned “Cold” and the title track are also the best songs on the album. This album is a great effort! Too bad I dont like cover bands and albums so much. I rather prefer the bands author songs and albums.
