(record review)Get Married-Songs For The Sleepless(Asian Man Records/Wiretap Records)

Get Married is a six piece band from San Jose, California and they just released their new record via Asian Man Records and Wiretap Records. I listened to the record and reviewed it for our webzine.

This record contains 12 songs and the music Get Married play can not be qualified into one word. Basically, it is pop punkrock with a lot of melody and emotions in the songs. But, this band is not afraid to throw in their influences and mix them into hit songs that somehow find the way from your ear to your heart. There are doowop 50-ies influences in Cinnamon Sugar for which the guys made a video you can watch below. This song is for me absolutely one of the album highlights. Other song that I love very much is Music Box, a song with such a beautiful melody and vibe. Another great doo wop miniature is Coffee 2 which is short but sweet. Living Room is the song just made for feel good on a sunny morning as I listen to this record and am writing this review. This band is original, fresh, have great songs and are worth your attention, so go get this one and listen and tell me how you liked it.

(record review)Mikey Garou-“Hey Bee/In the park”

I donĀ“t know much about Mikey Garou, but I really loved these three songs represented on this single/e.p. I listened to this three songs on repeat for couple of times and reviewed it for this webzine.

I love horrorpunk and I also love doowop and these three songs are perfect combination of melodic horrorpunk, doowop and Ramones/Misfits style of punkrock. “Hey Bee” is a short but sweet doowop styled horrorpunk anthem with a lot of melody and excellent vocals just the way I love it. “In the park” is a dark lovesong ode for all those in love under moonlight cruising through the town and looking for a ghoul girl to be your soulmate. The third song on the record is “The way we behave” cover by The Undead and it is a great rendition of the classic punkrock/horrorpunk song. Great single, I loved every minute!

(record review)BROTHERS CREEPER-“Vicious, Vile and Viral”

American band Brothers Creeper released a new ep on Halloween. This band plays horrorpunk but it is not your usual horrorpunk with Misfits styled whoaas and heys but something different and also good.

The ep consists of 6 songs and they all differ from one another. On the opening track “Kids Next Gore” the lyrics and music are son angry that they almost border with some rock n roll hardcore punk. Lyrically, there is a lot of sarcasm and parody mingled with horror themes, like in my personal favourite of the record called “Hot Topic”, which touches the clothes and uniformity of the scene. The band also shows some doo wop and reggae influences in “The Upside Down”.

There are many of horrorpunk fans that wont be able to love this music on the first hearing because it is not so catchy and needs some listening and understanding. I loved this stuff.
