(record review)SHADOWPATH-“Rumours Of A Coming Dawn”

Shadowpath is relatively new band from Switzerland and this is their new album.

The album contains 8 tracks of melodic and symphonic dark metal with an interplay between angelic beautiful vocals, courtesy of their singer Gisselle and growling demonic vocals, courtesy of bands keyboardist Philipp. While listening to “Chaos Equation” the beauty of early Theatre of Tragedy comes to mind and maybe also After Forever. For me one of the best songs on the album is “Seed of Hope” with great keyboard/piano solo being the essence of that songs structure accompanied with beautiful vocal melodies and energetic but melodic guitar hooks. The arythmic riffs of “The Impossible Chain” and its epic will sure win over many new fans to this band, like it worked on me. One more highlight for me is “Another Inquisitor” reminding me why I love this kind of metal. When I listen to this album, I can just turn off the light, close my eyes and feel the music pick me up, surround me and make me dead to the world for one hour, which is very important to me.

9/10
