Minneriket is a one man band hailing from Norway, the land of black metal. Formed in 2014. by vocalist and multi instrumentalist Stein Akslen, this black metal band quickly found its somber and grim path to the blackened hearts.
“Anima Sola” is the third album by Minneriket and contains 10 songs of black metal, somehow typical for Norwegian scene having firm roots there, but also achieving some special atmosphere, as the band calls it of romantic black metal. The music is at the same time aggressive but also has some tender and to put it this way, gentle undertones. While listening, it almost makes you explore your inner and darkest self. The songs are partly written in Norwegian language and some are in English language with titles having some dose of sarcasm and black humour like “When life gets sick, the dead grow strong” and “Time for suicide”. I once heard the saying that black metal is ugly thing and not for everyone, that everyone cant understand and find beauty in black metal. I found it a long time ago. Minneriket offers nothing new, it offers no beauty, no consolation, no salvation. But it offers a beauty in darkness, and those who can appreciate such beauty will get and listen to this album.
